A World We Dare To Imagine

I want to create a world in which everyone enjoys quality higher education. I am who I am because I had a quality education from my childhood onwards. I learned to appreciate all the opportunities I have and I believe that everybody deserves the same privileges. The value of education has never been higher than today, but the availability is restricted so that many people drop out of school.

People who drop out of their education, do not do so because they don't want to study. There are two main reasons for people failing to pursue education––they either cannot afford education, or they cannot deal with the current teaching methods. While there has been an effort in making education financially more approachable, there has been done little or nothing to improve the way we communicate knowledge. With new methods many more people could thrive in education.

Since the invention of schooling, there have not been many changes to the style of teaching. The so called "frontal teaching" is almost the same as it has been 150 years ago. For sure, there have been improvements in the tools the teachers use, but the overall method has not changed. The concept is the same; the teacher stands in front of the class and talk about his knowledge. For sure, there are some people who can thrive in such a system, but for every successful person there is somebody else who fails. We need to find a way to spark real interest within students, which is going to motivate them over a long period of time. Everybody should enjoy the methods which fits best for them. Education should be tailored for the specific needs of the individual. My organization is going to focus on teaching methods and how to recognize when to employ which method.

I want that everybody can cultivate their skills and talents. Thus I want to create an organization which is going to develop teaching methods. Higher education has never been more important––automation is going to take over many jobs in the close future. Thus, to stay ahead of the robotic competition, education needs to be more accessible.

  1. I really liked reading about this idea as it's something that I've never really thought of. It is pretty strange that everyone is taught the same way in the same system when each human is so different.

I think the best way to implement this idea would be to increase the number of specialty schools and let parents/kids choose what kind of education that they want.

    1. I think it is important that people have the choice to choose which method fits best, but I wonder if there is a way in determining objectively which method fits best for you. For example, all middle school students would take a personality test and then they would get a recommendation for the appropriate high school.

  2. I like your idea. It seems like the education system has been mostly the same every where in the world including Iran (where I went to elementary school through high school). I can't wait to hear your pitch about how it would be achieved.

  3. I also am extremely grateful of the education I have had thus far and don't know where I would be without it. It is sad how many people are not able to access basic education, especially in developing regions. If they were able to gain that access, then they could work themselves out of poverty and create a better life for their future families. I also agree that education should be better fitted to each individual, since everyone learns best in their own way.
